BIO
Angela Keating is a multidisciplinary artist specialising in blown glass based in the Eastern Townships of Québec. An alumna of AUArts, she has worked as an assistant and teaching assistant across North America for renowned artists and at art institutions including Pilchuck Glass School and Pittsburgh Glass Center. In addition to blown glass, Keating’s work encompasses drawing, painting, ceramics, and music to both express conceptual ideas and to create functional homeware. Each element of her practice is the result of a meticulous process, with an attention to detail at each stage of creation. Drawing inspiration from the complex systems that shape our world - from human anatomy to dark matter - her work brings a moment of tranquility and beauty to everyday life, inviting reflection on the hidden networks that connect us all.

Artist Statement
Human anatomy is a subject that I am deeply interested in and which motivates my work. Its complex nature brings to mind all the structure which had to be created to produce and sustain life. I marvel at the intricacy of these systems and draw inspiration from them as a way to express my gratitude for and awe of the beauty in life.
I am equally enamoured with the technical and conceptual aspects of creating with glass and have always been inclined to working with my hands. I enjoy the intensity in the process of blowing glass and find it a satisfying medium because of its ephemeral transparency and the duality of its strong yet fragile nature. I aim to evoke emotion and instill a sense of wonder, keeping in mind the marriage of concept and function to provide my audience with an object of purpose and beauty.
